Laura Blackmer graduated from Franklin Pierce University in 2016 with a BA in Fine Arts. There she discovered a love for many mediums and she has continued to explore and experiment since. Inspiration for her work comes, in large part, from a deeply rooted appreciation of nature. She is enchanted by the colors and textures of the natural world and her hope is to convey the feeling that is evoked when surrounded by its sublime majesty. She enjoys abstracting the subject by manipulating perspective and adding texture or elements of collage to create a subjective impression of her experience.

Laura works in many mediums, although she is primarily a painter. “Painting teaches me to look more closely at the world around me and better appreciate its beauty.” She lives in Peterborough with her husband and dog.
